On what felt like the coldest day of the year, I left Adam outside as I enjoyed the warmth of the shop for our regular committee meeting. It went on slightly longer than planned but prior Adam & I spent some time throwing some ideas about in regards to the task of removing the faulty spring.

Out of the 4 springs, this one has suffered the most. I’ve received lots of recommendations on how to tackle this issue but first and foremost its a matter of removing it and taking it apart to assess how bad each leaf is. As you can see from the above image, the top spring is ok, with the two below it in a very poor condition.

Above you can see from this angle just how bad the end of some of the leaf springs are. You can also see the tower of sleepers Adam has started forming in order to raise the chassis an additional 4 or so inches to create enough room to remove the spring. We did do some test lifts with 2 bottle jacks that will feature in an upcoming video!

Here is another angle from below. We will use the 2 diagonal parts of the chassis to lift from and spread the weight equally. Once the problem spring is removed, the wagon will rest on the sleepers until repairs are complete.
See you in the next one!
